Special Workshop Seminar: Filipino Martial Arts and Indonesian Silat

You’ve seen it in the movies, and here’s an opportunity to train in it!
Known as kali, arnis, escrima – these centuries-old weapons-based combative systems were used
throughout the Philippines to defend against invaders and resolve local conflicts.
Similarly, Silat has its origins throughout SE Asia – Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, etc.
although names may vary by region. Its brutal empty hand and weapons
applications were developed for combative purposes. This workshop will introduce
participants to the empty hand aspects.

The workshop will be taught by Brent Matsuda, now in Nanaimo, whose credits and experience includes:

Training in Filipino Martial Arts and Silat since
1988 in Canada, USA, Australia, and the Philippines
